This popular walking trail ( click here for a map) passes not far from the house on the stage between the Black Valley and Glenbeigh. As you may expect the B&B is well prepared for walkers, bikers & hikers, offeing evening meals, packed lunches and laundry & drying service. The Rowan Tree cooperates with the other B&Bs on the Kerry Way and can provide luggage transfers to Glenbeigh or the Black Valley (fees apply).

The Iveragh Peninsula
A magnificent round trip over quiet Ballaghbeema Pass and through Moll's Gap leads you on a day tour through Killarney National Park past the famous lakes into Killarney town and further on to the Gap of Dunloe. The scenery is breathtaking and can best be enjoyed by foot on many marked walks or with jaunting cars waiting near Kate Kearney's Cottage to take you through the Gap with its beautiful views!
Cycling around Curagh Lake
Cycling
The quiet country roads make the area perfect for longer and shorter bicycle tours. Popular loops lead around beautifully located Lough Caragh as well as to Killorglin and back via Lough Acoose. Click here for a map

Angling
Lough Acoose, Lough Caragh as well as Caragh river nearby the house are all popular fishing spots!

Mountain climbing
The Coomloughra circuit starts and ends near Lough Acoose and is considered to be the country's finest horseshoe walk as it covers Irelands highest summits: Caher (1001 mtrs), Carrauntuohill (1039mtrs) and Beenkeragh (1010mtrs). The view from any of the three mountains is stunning!
